I made this granny square picnic blanket to use up my stash of acrylic yarn. With no regard for colour choice. The colours are for the most part picked completely at random. Well up until the last 10 rounds or so they are. I needed to order the skeins in such a way that I would be able to use one without running out and just coudn’t resist putting the colours into groups that show them off the best.

The finished blanket is one I actually really like. It’s super clashy but it works. Kind of surprised by this as at times I really really did not like how this blanket was turning out. I only kept going because finishing it means I can buy new yarn. I’m glad I kept going though as it is perfect as a throw for outside. I like it but I also don’t mind the dogs getting it covered in muddy paw prints 🙂

Now I’m just waiting on the sun to appear so can use it for an actual picnic! Shortly after these pictures were taken we had a sudden heavy downpour complete with hail!!! Really looking forward to some sun now!

Thanks for stopping by!

P.S.  I’ve added this blanket to Jennifer’s Winter Project Link Party over on her Thistlebear blog. Please take a moment to stop by. It is the last link up for winter projects and there are some lovely ones there.

Thank you 😊 crochet never stops surprising me with what you can do with it. When this blanket was just a pile of yarn my mind kept screaming that these colours just don’t work and yet the finished product is really nice!

It’s beautiful! I love the edging. Your pups seem to enjoy it a lot. I’d love for you to add your blanket project to my winter projects link up. I know you’re already done with it, but I’m sure people would love to see it!

Thank you! i had planned on making a super ornate border but could’t resist a simple crab stitch edge. I was actually debating whether or not to link this post up so you’ve given me the push i needed just at the right time 🙂
